3 - LESSON

Password Security

Passwords are often the only thing standing between your data and a cybercriminal. Weak passwords are like leaving your front door unlocked.

Why Strong Passwords Matter:

Attackers use tools to guess passwords using known combinations (like 123456, qwerty, or your pet’s name).

They also try leaked passwords from previous data breaches.

Common Mistakes:

Reusing the same password across multiple sites.

Using short passwords like password or abcd1234.

Using personal details like your birthday or name.

How to Create a Strong Password:

Use 12+ characters.

Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.

Avoid real words or common sequences.

Example:

❌ Weak: john1998, football1

✅ Strong: J!w9$eP7t@q#92Ld

Use a Password Manager:

Securely stores your login credentials.

Generates unique passwords for each site.

Examples: Bitwarden, 1Password, LastPass.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):

  • Adds an extra step to your logins (like a code sent to your phone).
  • Even if someone steals your password, they can’t log in without the second factor.
